Fitting instructions

Please note that Door Defender may be fitted to either left hand or right hand opening doors. Door Defender may only be used where a return wall is adjacent to the hinge side of the door (see drawing).

DoorDefender must be fitted by a competent person.

1.   We recommend that you ensure surfaces are flat and structurally sound before commencing to fit both items.

2.  Ensure that both items are fitted on the same level and are parallel to each other.

3.   It is essential that you are using the correct fixing for the medium you are fixing to. For example, if your door is uPVC you will require specialist fixings. It is vitally important that correct raw plugs are also used to enable secure fixing.

4.  We recommend that you fix the wall body first using the measurement provided, to give correct working angle for the arm. On fitting the door body it is important that the arm is as close to the internal piston as possible, but not touching, allowing free movement of the arm. We recommend a distance of 1mm. Ensure that you fit the retaining pin in the door body before fixing to the door. The pin should always be placed in the bottom hole for the bar to rest on.

5.   It is vitally important that the bar drops down into the retaining slot in the wall body when not engaged/in use. The bar should lay flat for its entire length (no protrusions) so as to avoid possible injury.

6.  Frame quality together with the fixings of the frame to the surrounding structure may impact on the level of security provided. The stronger the fixtures and fittings, the more security door defender will provide.
